Writer's Block: Desert Island Time

This is the first time that I've ever answered one of these questions, but antipodes did it and I was inspired.

DVDs I would bring with me:

1. Love Actually. I know, I know, it's a cheesy rom-com, but I love it.
   
2. Harold & Maude. If anything could cheer me up on a desert island (besides a hatch to play with and maybe some Dharma mac & cheese), this would be it.
   
3. The Cockettes. This is a documentary that Mjark showed me and I absolutely love it. It would inspire me to do things with fronds the likes of which you've never SEEN.
   
4. I'm gonna go ahead and say that Special Edition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That probably counts as more than one, but if it comes in one package, it's probably okay, right?
   
5. Ditto the two new Batman/Dark Knight movies. Why so serious?

I recently gave a copy of Pam Tent's book to Mjark, and I HIGHLY recommend it. It's called Midnight at the Palace: My Life as a Fabulous Cockette and goes into ever so much more detail than the movies. It came up pretty quickly for me through the SPL hold system, too, though I'll probably buy my own copy sooner or later.

I LOVE THE COCKETTES! After watching that movie, I got really sad and angry that I could not some how go back in time and join them, so deep was my love. Heh.

Me too!!! My friends and I used it as inspiration for a dress-up party at which we covered ourselves in feather boas and dime-store clothes and took pictures. Heh. These days all the thrift stores are too picked over and I'm too old to want to live in a commune.

It's good to hear from you. I know things are rough right now, and I'm sorry for it.

Oooh, that sounds fuuuun.

Yeah, I haven't shopped vintage since I was like 16 for that exact reason.
